DTS: An Opportunity for the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

DTS is drawing closer to its start date and word of mouth couldn’t be anymore potent. The excitement looms, as students get ready to hear the world’s most influential people share their industry experience.

The current trend in the air among today’s youth is entrepreneurship. The ambitions of young students in Dublin has transformed from working with KPMG and Pwc to wanting to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or Evan Spiegel.

The exponential growth of Europe’s tech ecosystem has motivated students to dig out the innovations hidden in the back of their minds, bringing them to the forefront of their lives with the aid of Dublin’s global tech hub.

With students clamoring to get tickets to DTS, it appears that Dublin’s young talents are hoping for the motivation and determination of early-stage startups attending DTS to rub off on them.

DTS is an opportunity to provide domestic and international students with the confidence to go out into the world and create something revolutionary.

We asked a few students who are looking to attend the event what they hope to gain from the DTS experience and why they’re excited about it.

 On Networking:

“I’m really interested in creating my own gaming app one day. I would love to meet lots of different people who have industry experience that are going to possibly influence my future in that.”

– Saoirse McMahon, DIT, Games Design

 On Confidence:

“I find attending DTS very inspirational. Speaking with other entrepreneurs who have made it out there, it gives me the motivation to pursue my own ideas and it shows me that really anybody can get to the top.”

– Declan McGee, DCU, Enterprise Computing

On Creativity:

“Being a young lad that’s always been interested in tech, going to DTS stimulates my creativity. I’m really interested in social media so I absolutely love that Gary Vee is speaking. He will definitely get my creative juices flowing.”

 – Martin Lawson, UCD, Computer Science

On the participating startups:

“It seems like a really cool event – I know a lot of people who are pretty pumped up for it. Getting hands on demonstrations from leading startup exhibitors on the latest tech inventions is definitely the part that interests me.”

– Jonathan Rudden, UCD, Commerce

On gaining industry knowledge:

“Due to the fact that my career resides in the tech industry, I think DTS is the perfect forum to develop my skills knowledge to enable me to work lucratively in the future.”

– Shauna Stanley, DIT, Information Systems & IT

On Technology:

“My natural curiosity of technology in today’s world draws me to DTS. I think it’s a great event to get young people motivated about their careers.”

– Jessica Mahon, Intern at Microsoft

On Opportunity:

“DTS is an exciting opportunity because it gives students the chance to rub shoulders with some of the greatest leaders in the tech industry today. Bringing so many exciting names to one event is inspiring and as a student, I hope to use the two days to meet amazing people, create lasting connections and attend motivational and informational talks.”

– Daniel Kyne, DCU, MINT
